About Our Prints

Through our prints shop we offer custom-made prints of exceptional quality — available unframed or framed and delivered to your door. Printed by the Giclée process and utilising premium archival materials, our prints are made to last generations. All proceeds from sales go back into The Public Domain Review (a not-for-profit project) and make up roughly 25% of our funding. Learn more about the prints and shipping process below.

The Prints

Shipped worldwide / Locally produced

We ship worldwide and our partnerships with a selection of print studios around the world mean orders for US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia are locally produced and don’t have far to travel.

Printing

Printed using pigment-based archival inks (Giclée process) on high grade heavyweight art paper: 100% cotton, finely textured, and acid-free archival substrates purposefully chosen for optimal historical art reproduction.

  • US and Canada: Epson Somerset Velvet (255gsm)
  • Australia: Hahnemühle’s Photo Rag (188gsm)
  • EU: Hahnemühle’s Photo Rag (310gsm)
  • UK and rest of world: St Cuthbert Mill’s Somerset Enhanced Velvet (255gsm)

Framing

All frames are custom produced to order, hand-made with high quality, acid-free archival materials to create a beautiful piece of art that will last for generations.

  • Solid wood with a 3/4" face (and 1" depth for US orders, 3/4" elsewhere)
  • 2" acid-free 4-ply natural white mat with bevelled edges
  • Shatterproof, high quality UV-shielding acrylic glazing
  • Archival acid-free foam core backing
  • Ready to hang with included fixtures

Why acrylic instead of glass? Although more expensive than glass, like most art-sellers and galleries we’ve chosen acrylic glazing for its superior UV protection and its robustness in transport.

Returns and Refunds

Returns for incorrect or damaged prints

As the prints are custom made (specifically for the image, size, and frame colour you have chosen) then we can only accept returns or refunds in the case of incorrect or damaged prints.

Please be aware that, due to these being reproductions of historical works, the images may contain blemishes or marks expected with age, even after work we’ve done to enhance the image ready for printing. We feel these add character but you are encouraged to carefully inspect the digital image shown on the product page to make sure you are happy.

To request a refund or replacement then please get in touch on shop@publicdomainreview.org explaining the issue you have and providing photographs demonstrating the problem. For more info see our Returns Policy.
